Letterpress Artists' Book

Eleven students, fifteen weeks, one vision. A group of hand-picked Montana State design and writing students took on the challenge of researching, interviewing, writing, illustrating, designing, and printing Spaces: Connecting Creation to Place. A living history of art in the Gallatin Valley, Spaces contains interviews with people who are shaping the unique Bozeman arts community, from sculptors to musicians, and activists within the art world. Spaces shows how the Bozeman art community strove to find itself a place, from reclaiming warehouse basements, to reshaping the Sweet Pea Festival, to renovating an elementary school into a cultural center. We hope to help people gain an appreciation for how these local artists influenced the evolution of culture in the Gallatin Valley.

Illustration of Weaver Genise Park Holding Yarn in Hands
Art communicates from our unconscious. It’s from our whole being…because [of] that chance to explore self and to open up self to different possibilities.
